A cafe for parents and young babies has been shortlisted for a national award which champions baby changing facilities.
Twinkle Toes soft play baby cafe, on Sussex Road, was nominated for the Sudocrem Care and Protect Baby Changing Room Awards 2014 by impressed customers - something which was a surprise to owner Ingrid Henry.
She said: “I didn’t even know we had been nominated and I didn’t know we had been shortlisted so it is very nice.”
The awards, fronted by TV and radio presenter Katy Hill, asked people to vote for the ‘Best Baby Changing Room’ as part of a campaign to encourage retailers and restaurants to improve their facilities.
832 nominations were received for the award, and Twinkle Toes, which has only been open for seven months, has made it into the top 10.
The winner will be announced next week after judges visit the shortlisted candidate to decide which facility will be crowned the winner.
Ms Henry, who is pregnant with her third child and lives in Norwich, said: “I’ve got a young five-year-old myself and have used a lot of baby changing facilities.
“There is a nice comfy chair for mum to feed her baby privately. And there is bunting, a chandelier and a vintage dresser which has nappies, wipes and creams as well as information leaflets on.
“I don’t think it’s that special, it’s a nice clean area, but it’s nice that other people think it is special.”
The cafe, which is for newborns to three-year-olds, also offers baby classes and is a place where parents can socialise with other parents while the children can play.
The 44-year-old added: “We are a nice, warm and friendly place. It’s a great surprise that we have been shortlisted and it would be lovely if we won.”
