A Norwich bar is seeking permission to play music in its courtyard throughout the week until 10pm.

Bedfords, on Old Post Office Yard, has applied to Norwich City Council for a licence to play live music Monday to Saturday from 4pm to 10pm.

It has also requested permission for live music every Sunday between 12 midday and 6pm, and the opportunity to host 'some' all-day events throughout the summer.

Objecting to the application, Richard Divey, environmental protection officer, said the outside area was 'not appropriate' for use as a music venue.

Meanwhile, Franks Bar, located next door, said: 'They had music in this outside area recently and it was far too loud for us to be able to trade next door. Our windows were rattling in their frames and all of the customers in our upstairs room left due to the very loud music.

'Perhaps there is a way that the outdoor value could be limited?'
