This lovely walk suggested by Tony Smith starts in the charming seaside village of Mundesley and follows the Paston Way long distance route as far as Trunch. The walk first goes inland to Gimingham where the old mill that burnt down in the 1970's has since been rebuilt, and the old diesel engine that used to work the mill is still on display in the village.
There is a long mill pond beside the main street that is fed by the River Mun. All Saints Church is a little further along the street and has a 14th century chancel. In the pretty village of Trunch, St Botolph's Church is famous for its wooden font canopy, only four of which exist in England.
There are some lovely views along the footpaths.
For refreshment, there are several cafes and public houses in Mundesley. The walk passes Lilia's Caf in Mundesley and also the Crown Inn at Trunch, which is open at lunch times on Tuesday to Saturdays and Sundays 12pm-7pm.
t Go to the back of the car park and through the barriers into the Golden Park playing field. Turn diagonally right across the field to white barriers beside a white house. Go through the barriers and beside Sion House to the road with the village sign along to the right. Turn left along the road for a short distance then turn right into Station Road, past Lilia's Caf and uphill. As the road bends right keep ahead into Links Road. Continue past Seaward Crest Chalet Park and the entrance to Mundesley Golf Club.
t Continue ahead with the golf course on the left and, just after going round a left bend, turn right through a gap in the hedge onto a signed path (part of the Paston Way long distance path). Continue beside the golf course with a sight of the radar 'golf ball' over to the right. Follow the hedge round a left bend, and then ahead across a field to a marker post and on between fields on a grassy path. Continue ahead through more fields and over some stiles eventually going through a wooden barrier and out between dwellings to the lane in Gimingham.
t Turn left and walk through Gimingham past the old engine on the left, then past the pond on the right with lakes behind it. Continue on past All Saints Church on the left. Then, just past the village hall and opposite the village sign, turn right into Hall Road. Follow the lane past Hall Farm and round a left bend and, immediately after the farm buildings finish on the left, fork left into a signed grassy path (still on the Paston Way). At the end of the field go left and follow the hedge right, left and right again. Then, on reaching a road, turn left past Dial Cottage for about a hundred metres. Opposite Keeper Retreat and just before Royal Farm turn right into a signed, wide track.
t At the next lane turn left for about a quarter of a mile, ignoring the first footpath on the right, and then, just after a bend, take the next path that goes half right into a sunken lane. Follow this lovely path to another lane. Turn left for about eighty metres to the Wright's Loke sign on the right and go half right through barriers into an enclosed footpath to reach the road in Trunch.
t Cross into the churchyard opposite and, after visiting St Botolph's Church, continue on through the churchyard and out through another gate and on past houses by the Crown Inn. Go over the staggered crossroads into Mundesley Road and follow it for about one and a quarter miles to a T-junction and turn right. Follow the road past dwellings and then the school.
t Continue round the left bend past the Fire Station. Ignore a road on the right and continue along the pavement, over a bridge and round a right bend. Then, as the road bends left, turn right into Beck Meadow Way and soon fork left into Meadow Drive At its end continue ahead through a gap (not through the barriers) and along the road ahead to a T-junction with the public conveniences on the right-hand corner. Turn left and go along Beach Road back to the start.
