Wedding venues in Norwich and beyond are stepping in to offer a lifeline to brides and grooms affected by the Broad House Hotel going into administration.

Moira Hall and Andrew Burton, from George Borrow Road, off Earlham Road, Norwich, are among the couples who were due to wed at the Wroxham venue.

After reading about the couple's story in the Evening News a number of the county's wedding venues and services have got in touch offering help to them and other brides and grooms.

Mrs Hall, 51, and who was due to marry Mr Burton, 45, on March 12, said: 'It is heartwarming that so many people have got in touch.

'I am absolutely amazed by the support. It is really nice that people have read the story and wanted to help.

'At the moment we are not ruling anything out. There are a lot of things to consider.

'I am sure that in the end, wherever we are, as long we have all our friends and family there we will have a special day.'

The Assembly House in Norwich is among the places offering help to couples affected by the situation at the Broad House Hotel.

Richard Hughes, managing director of the Theatre Street venue, said The Assembly House would be happy to offer room hire free of charge to couples and give them 10pc off a wedding package.

He said: 'Some of these people will have been planning their wedding day for months or years, and so for this to happen to them must be devastating.

'We have got a stunning venue at the Assembly House, and we would be more than happy to help couples in any way we can.'

Brasted's at Framingham Pigot, and the Arlington Hotel Group which runs the Scarborough Hill Hotel, in North Walsham, Hotel Wroxham, and the George Hotels in Norwich and Swaffham, have both said they would be happy to do special deals for couples affected by the Broad House Hotel situation.

Daniel Lightening, from Thorpe Marriott-based Lightening Photography, has said he would also offer couples special deals on photography.

Other venues that also said they would do everything they could to help couples having to change their wedding plans are The Nightingale Centre, in Framingham Earl, The Oaklands Hotel in Yarmouth Road, Thorpe St Andrew, and the Amber Lodge Hotel, in Acle.

Mary Turner, 40, a police community support officer from Hoveton, was due to marry Graham Robinson, a 42-year-old police sergeant, at Broad House Hotel in just a few weeks time on January 29.

The couple had already paid Broad House Hotel 4,500 and they are unsure whether they will get some of their money back.

However, luckily the couple will still be getting married on the same day after changing their venue to the Sprowston Manor Hotel.

Ms Turner, who has a 10-year-old son called Joe, said: 'Sprowston Manor have been fantastic.

'They have been brilliant and we are managing to pull everything together.

'A few days ago I was really panicking and I could not sleep. It was all going over my head what I had to do.

'Now I am starting to think that things are getting in order and things are getting back on track. I feel lucky that we have been able to find a different venue on the same day.'
