As millions of people tuned in to watch the first in a new series of Britain's Got Talent on ITV1 on Saturday,

organisers of a Norfolk talent show have warned hopefuls from the county they have just days left to get their entries in.

The very first Norfolk's Got Talent contest was launched earlier this year with the aim of unearthing the very best of home grown talent and giving them the chance to shine on the stage.

The competition, which is being backed by the Evening News, has to date had more than 50 entries ranging from singers, to dancers, dance acts and comedians.

But competition bosses have today urged acts, who have so far not put pen to paper on their application form, to get their entries in - or miss out on the chance of showing off how talented they are.

Joe Ringer, who runs Norwich-based events and performance company Mixed Voice with Josh Lincoln and Rick Greer, has helped organise the contest and said people only have until Fridayto get their entries in.

Mr Ringer, who is also one of the judges in the competition, said: 'Don't miss out on the chance to enter - you never know who's going to be watching.

'We're pleased with the amount of entries we've had so far, but we still think there's plenty more out there. The emphasis is on variety and we would still like some more acts to come forward - they've still got time to apply.'

After Friday's deadline has passed, Mr Ringer said he would get together with competition organisers over the weekend and whittle down entries to just 32 remaining acts.

He said: 'Over the weekend, we will sit down and decide the best out of those who applied. We want there to be variety, not just singers. The people who are successful will be informed on Monday, April 26.'

Mr Ringer said he has been impressed by the quality of acts that had entered to date and hoped the final few days would throw up a few more quality entries.

He said: 'There have been a lot of good entries. A lot of people have attached YouTube clips and MP3 clips so we can see exactly what they do and how good they are, which helps us.'

The contest will feature a series of heats at The Talk, in Norwich, throughout June with the grand final at the 450-seater venue on Sunday July 4.

The winners will walk away with 500. People who think they have what it takes to win the competition can apply via an application form on the website www norfolksgottalent.co.uk until Friday.

Just 32 acts will go through to the heats on June 9, 16, 23 and 30, with the best two from each round going through to the final.
