A new book inspired by the EDP Bidewells Norfolk Food Festival will tickle your tastebuds says Derek James.

Warning: Reading this book will make you hungry.

It is a mouth-watering publication which has all the ingredients of a bestseller and is one which will tickle your tastebuds.

Norfolk Food Heroes, by that great double-act Stephen Browning and Daniel Tink, was inspired by the EDP Bidwells Norfolk Food Festival which is now in full flow, highlighting our food and the men and women who serve us.

It comprises more than 1,000 events, promotions and offers and in a short time has grown to become a major event in the Norfolk calendar attracting not only locals but visitors from all over the UK.

Writer Stephen and photographer Daniel decided to produce the book after a wander round the last food festival which made them realise just what a leading role food played in Norfolk life and how 'food tourism' is now a leading player in the local economy.

They were amazed at just how much food is produced across the county, so they set out to discover where it all came from and why, given the 24/7 nature of the task, so many men and women actually loved their work.

Armed with a camera and notebook they set off to discover some of the answers.

'We have been to many parts of the county, fallen over in the mud, been rained upon heavily, had our trousers set upon by cows as big as buses, tasted the greatest mince pies in the world, discovered that kale does indeed get stressed, been pecked by screeching turkeys and much more besides,' they said.

And they loved it!

'It has been absolutely fantastic and everyone has made us very welcome.

'Thank you to all our 'Heroes' who invited us into their homes, farms and kitchens,' added the authors.

What they have produced is a wonderful look at the army of people who work day and night making sure the food on Norfolk plates in the finest in the land.

They all have great stories to tell and the heroes include:

Jane and Lesley-Anne Cargill of Foxley Wood Aberdeen Angus Farm.

Shawn Grey and Paul Daniels, Cromer fishermen.

Mike Thurlow of Orchid Apiares.

Peter and Jenny Burgess of Kitchen Gardens

Steve Childerhouse of Great Grove Turkeys.

Liz Joint of Ebenezer Cottage.

Rona and Philip Norton of Norton's Farm Shop.

Grimsby, Sally and Rob of Pye Bakers.

Sam and Bertie Steggles of Fielding Cottage.

Glen Weston of Cley Smokehouse.
