A Caister fish and chip restaurant was closed for business yesterday after an arsonist set fire to its rear door on Sunday night.

But as John Davis the owner of Doggers Plaice cleared up the mess caused by the arson attack he vowed his restaurant would be open as normal from today.

The arsonist set fire to the rear door of the Ormesby Road building at about 7.25pm.

Three fire engines from Great Yarmouth were called out to tackle the blaze and fire fighters used a large fan to clear smoke from the kitchen.

Mr Davis said there had been a lot of smoke damage caused and that he needed to order a replacement rear door.

He added that he was annoyed by what had happened but said his business would be back to normal today.

Following the arson attack Caister police carried out door to door enquiries in the area.
