Norfolk-based celebrity Stephen Fry has backed a county charity's fundraising push and offered a pair of tickets to watch an episode of the BBC 1 panel show QI being filmed and meet the stars afterwards.

The exclusive opportunity will be auctioned off online before a charity event in June to raise money for treatment of those suffering from addiction.

Norfolk-based charity NORCAS will hold its first ever fundraising ball at Dunston Hall on June 5, complete with an auction of donated items and tickets.

More than 100 tickets for the event have already been sold, which will be hosted by Norwich City legend Jeremy Goss.

Guests will enjoy a three course meal and a live band before the auction begins.

But the tickets for QI will be auctioned on eBay from April 30, before the event takes place.

Head of fundraising at NORCAS, Matt Wilson, said: 'We are extremely grateful to Stephen Fry and his team for donating this wonderful prize.

'Our first charity ball is promising to be a really fantastic evening and we couldn't think of a better way to launch the fundraising appeal.

'The money raised via the event will go towards some very worthwhile programmes within the Norfolk area, helping to make our society a more positive place for us all to live.'

Local businesses have also donated prizes for a charity auction which will be held at the event.

Us2U Consulting has offered use of an apartment in Turkey for one week, Norwich City FC has donated a signed shirt and match ball and a pair of tickets for their game against Ipswich Town and Lotus has promised a tour of their factory.

Tickets for the event are 50 and can be bought from Matt Wilson by calling 01603 227053 or emailing fundraising@norcas.org.uk.
