A group of city businessmen hope to raise 20,000 for a local cancer charity as they cycle the width of the country.

Chris Batten, 53, of Norwich-based ipatter.com, Lee Simpson, 43, a wealth advisor for Towry on Broadland Business Park, Stuart Flatt, 29, training manager at Dereham-based AFA and Colin Richardson, 24, co-founder of Duke Street-based Bigfork, are set to cycle 800 miles from Land's End to Norwich in seven days for Big C.

The men will start their challenge tomorrow and aim to finish the following Sunday, cycling at least 100 miles each day.

Chris Batten, head of global sales and marketing at ipatter.com and who lives in Hemsby, said: 'This is a real challenge and we shouldn't underestimate what we're setting out to achieve.

'Big C is a truly worthwhile cause – they provide outstanding support to those affected by cancer.'

Big C provides cancer care and support in Norfolk and Waveney, with donations going towards cancer research and equipment.

Since the charity was founded in 1980 it has raised 14m, much of which has funded important research at the University of East Anglia and the area's hospitals.

As well as cash contributions, the team has also put together a 'shopping list' of items they need in order to complete their challenge. The list of products required can also be found on the website.
