A scheme to help prevent people from drowning in rivers and waterways across the Norfolk Broads will be launched next week.

Local businesses will have the chance to learn about the danger cold water poses to customers and receive equipment to help rescue them.

Staff from pubs, clubs and restaurants in the broads are being encouraged to sign up.

RNLI community safety experts, the Broads Authority and Norfolk police's Broads Beat team will deliver the training scheme.

Staff from pubs, clubs and restaurants in the area are encouraged to sign up.

They will learn how to use a throw bag and what to do when people get into distress in the water.

A throw bag, which is a 20m floating line used to pull someone to safety, can be supplied to venues at key locations across the region.
