A new after school club has been launched at schools in Broadland to introduce children with special needs to the joy of sport.

The club at the Hall School in Old Catton has been made possible through funding from Broadland District Council and Active Norfolk.

Broadland's sports development officer, Maria Alborough, said: 'These are children who would not be able to participate in mainstream sporting activities, but who can really benefit from all that sport has to offer young people.

'We are trying to provide new opportunities that are not readily available, in a safe and familiar environment where they can have fun and learn new skills with their peers.'

The club has also been established at Bure Valley Primary School in Aylsham.

Broadland portfolio holder for economic development Stuart Clancy said: 'This is a perfect example of how a modest amount of money can really make a difference to children, helping them to greater fitness and improving their well-being.'

Local Life will be going to one of the after school clubs to find out more about all the sporting fun this month. To find out what we get up to, catch Local Life in the Evening News every Thursday.
