The fine city becomes the backdrop of a stirring political thriller, in a new short film made by a graduate of local college.

'Above the Fold', is the latest project of 22-year-old film director Josh Trett, a 15-minute short film, and features several locations from Norwich and the surrounding areas.

The story, written by the Norwich University of the Arts graduates, tells the tale of journalist, George Foxim, played by local actor George Ambrose, who finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a newly founded political party.

The film was produced across a variety of Norfolk locations. St George's Theatre in Great Yarmouth, the Guildhall in Norwich and various sights around the city are features, while the film's dramatic climax was shot in North Walsham.

Mr Trett, who also works as a film teacher at East Norfolk Sixth Form College, said: 'Since my teen years, I have always wanted to be in film and this is a project I have really enjoyed putting together.'

Mr Trett collaborate by his brother Matthew in making the film, who worked as cinematographer, and schoolmate Jake Clarke, who assisted him with writing.

It received its premiere at the Forum on February 5.

Mr Trett added: 'The film was very well received. I didn't really know how people would respond to it, however, I've had some great feedback.

'Most people who commented on it said that they wanted to see more from it and said that they were gripped throughout.'

Mr Trett is now planning to take the film on tour of national and international film festivals, before receiving an online release on YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo.

The Freethorpe resident said: 'I've never submitted anything to a film festival before, but it is something I have wanted to do for some time. This feels like the right film to do it with.'
