An new fresh and organic cafe in Norwich city centre has re-opened under new management.
"Our main aim is to provide something different to everywhere else within the city centre. I also think it’s a great opportunity to try something [people] normally wouldn’t necessarily try.”"
Slurp, in Royal Arcade, Norwich, has been taken over by Mandy and Kayleigh Green, a mother and daughter team from Little Plumstead.
The duo decided to go into business together while Kayleigh finishes off her degree in social care at the UEA.
Kayleigh, 22, said: “We have been thinking about it for a couple of years now and just decided to go for it.
“It’s really nice to go into something together and will also help me to gain some business experience.” Mandy, 47, left her job as a manager at Greens Health and Fitness after a shoulder injury and decided it was the perfect time to embark on a new adventure.
Emphasising on keeping the menu ‘fresh’, the cafe specialises in healthy smoothies, juices and soups with favourites such as Berry Bonanza and Pretty in Pink adding to the colourful menu.
Mandy said: “Our main aim is to provide something different to everywhere else within the city centre. Everything on our menu is organic. We also offer dairy free and wheat free produce and try to cater for everyone’s needs. We welcome everyone to come and enjoy our menu and atmosphere at Slurp.
“I also think it’s a great opportunity to try something that they normally wouldn’t necessarily try.”
The idea came about as Kayleigh herself cannot eat wheat products and found it hard to come across anywhere that specifically catered from people with dietary needs.
Proving to be quite the team both mother and daughter make all the decisions for the cafe together and also have the help and support of Mandy’s other two children. They have already set up a Facebook and Twitter account that is active daily and the cafe also offers student discounts.
Slurp’s official website will be up and running from the middle of February.
