Inspirational stories will be shared via the airwaves when a church will be converted to a radio station for four days only.

Pop Corn and Grace will be broadcast from St Edward's Community Church, Badersfield - where RAF Coltishall used to be based - from Sunday May 25 to Wednesday May 28.

The volunteer-led station, thought up by the Diocese of Norwich, will be aired across a 6km-wide area including Aylsham, Buxton, Coltishall, Horsford, North Walsham and Wroxham.

Volunteers range from eight-years-old to people in their 60s and programme ideas have been developed by the 12 young people involved.

Church reader Kandi Kammoun, 54, from Stratton Road, Buxton, station co-ordinator, said: 'It is very much an intergenerational project. We want to bring in the youngsters with their perspectives on topics. The kids have been amazing.

'People will be surprised about what goes on in their community. We want to reach out with our gospel but say it is not just Christians that do good. Pop Corn and Grace is very much about stories.'

As well as lively discussions, the station will feature heartwarming interviews with 'unsung heroes' from the community and charities and a mix of music.

Broadland High School students have also recorded scripture passages and children from Coltishall and Buxton primary schools have written 55 prayers.

Pop Corn and Grace has cost about £4,000, raised from grants and fundraising.

It will start at 1pm on May 25 and live programmes will run from 7am-9pm on May 26. 27 and 28.
