A nurse and charity volunteer from Fakenham has been named this year’s Miss Norfolk.
Natasha Adams, 24, of Green Court, works at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (N&N) and is keen to use her title to help support causes already close to heart.
This year’s finals of the Miss Suffolk and Norfolk competition took place at Trinity Park in Ipswich on April 5, and Miss Adams was sponsored by independent King’s Lynn retailer Foxford Clothing.
Contestants had to compete in a number of events including a fitness round, a beautiful mind round, and a little black dress round. There was also a publicity and a social media round which took place before the competition day.
Prior to the contest, applicants were asked to design and make an eco gown - an outfit made from recycled objects.
Miss Adams said: “I made an outfit made out of NHS items, including a patient sheet, scrubs and general day to day material used by nurses.”
The last round of the competition was the evening wear round.
“Participants had to choose a ball gown to wear down the catwalk showing off their new-found confidence that they had developed throughout the day.
“The judging panel asked each contestant two questions on the spot, which we all found rather difficult. My questions were regarding my recent volunteering trip nursing in Africa and events I would complete if I were to win the Miss Norfolk title.”
Ahead of the finals she also raised £680 for charities Young People Of the Year (YOPEY) and Beauty with a Purpose by organising a pub quiz at the Running Horse, Fakenham, a tombola at Wells Beach Cafe, and a cake sale at the N&N.
As well as a volunteering for St John Ambulance, she is also a spokesperson for nursing at career days to help inspire young people, a dementia champion at work, and an advocate for Alzheimer’s Society.
Miss Adams is now a finalist for Miss England and will represent the region at the national finals in July.
