Narrow escape as car almost falls off cliff

A 65-year-old woman had a lucky escape when her car went partly over a cliff in Gorleston this evening.

A 65-year-old woman had a narrow escape when the car she was in went partly over a cliff in Gorleston this evening.

Fire, police and ambulance services were called to a car park on Marine Parade at about 6pm today after a car hit a barrier at the top of a cliff and went partly over.

Fire crews used hydraulic equipment to rescue the woman, who was conscious and breathing.

She was taken to the James Paget Hospital by ambulance.

A police spokesperson said: “When we arrived on scene we found the woman appeared to have hit a barrier and gone partly down the cliff.

“The fire brigade were there as a precaution and to help get the woman out of the vehicle and into the ambulance.”

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “Initially we were called to a car on the edge of the cliff and the woman inside was not moving.

“On scene we found the woman was conscious and breathing, and she was taken to the James Paget Hospital.”
