Music fans in this region will finally get the chance to catch this year's biggest music reunion this weekend when the Stone Roses step out on stage at the V Festival.

Back for the seventh year, the event will again see around 180,000 music lovers pass through the gates at Hylands Park in Chelmsford this weekend.

The festival is the region's biggest annual musical happening — beating even Latitude in terms of crowd numbers and as usual the line-up is stuffed with household names. Also headlining the main Virgin Media stage will be The Killers. Other acts performing over the weekend will include popular US rapper Nicki Minaj, Snow Patrol, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Tinie Tempah, Example, Suffolk's Ed Sheeran, James Morrison, Tom Jones and Olly Murs.

Festival director Simon Moran said: 'We're really delighted with the line-up this year. We have a great mix of artists topping a bill that will see the welcome return to live performance of Manchester's finest export, along with some of the biggest acts in the music industry today.'

If you've got tickets, you should've worked out how you're getting there by now. If like me you wing it on the day or if it's your first time, here's some hopefully handy advice. Cars and campervans should follow the A12 to Chelmsford then signs to the festival site. Road closures will be in place so switch the sat-nav off.

For those getting driven to the site, the pick-up and drop-off point is inside the blue car park, once again follow the directional signage. Don't arrange to be picked up or dropped off anywhere else as usual routes may not be in operation and whoever's driving may not be able to access the location.

Need a lift? Festival organisers have teamed up with www.liftshare.com and www.gocarshare.com. Who knows, you may make new friends too.

It once took me nearly an hour to find my car after a show. Avoid my embarrassment, download the free V Festival app and use the car finder to pinpoint where you've parked.
