A mother-of-four who has battled postnatal depression has a new challenge after becoming a finalist in a beauty pageant.
Annalise Green, 28, from Maze Avenue in Queen’s Hills in Costessey, is up against eight other women in the Miss Norfolk 2017 competition.
Ms Green, who set up YouTube channel Annalise and Mel Mummy Mayhem in May 2017 to tackle the stigma surrounding postnatal depression, feels “incredibly lucky” to be through to the final.
She said: “I don’t have a perfect bikini body. My aim is to help boost confidence for other mums. I’m a mum of four, I’ve had three caesarean sections and a lot of sleepless nights, which have all taken their toll.
“If I can do this then so can other mums - but mainly I want to show anyone suffering from postnatal depression that they can recover from it and come out the other side.
“When I first got postnatal depression I couldn’t have imagined ever doing something like this. I was so self-conscious and scared.
“This is my way of showing myself and other mums that you can and will get better and will be able to push yourself to do things you never imagined.”
To get through to this stage, Ms Green had to submit pictures to Norwich model Kerri Parker, who then selected the finalists.
The final is at Wensum Valley Hotel, Golf and Country Club in Taverham on Sunday, September 24.
It includes an interview round, catwalk and evening wear round for adults.
Ms Green has Paige, 10, Honey, 7, Jay, 4, and Winter-Rose, who is 11-months-old, with her partner Stu.
Her two older daughters are competing in the Miss Norfolk 2017 pre-teen and junior competitions.
“It’s amazing to be able to do this alongside my girls. I think the experience on the day itself will help me overcome my anxieties a little more,” she added.
Seven winners from the Miss Norfolk 2017 final will go on to the Miss UK grand final this year.
A big part of the Norfolk contest is fundraising for charity.
Ms Green is raising money for Brain Tumour Research which aims to find a cure for brain tumours.
