A mother who went missing after abandoning her newborn baby at Norwich's main hospital has still not been found - more than three months after she disappeared.

Agnieszka Marciniaki, 32, was last seen at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital at about 11.30am on Saturday, January 30.

She had given birth to a baby girl earlier in the day and later left the hospital, telling medics she would return once she had had gathered some possessions.

She left an address and telephone number with hospital staff, which later turned out to be fictitious, and has not been seen since.

Norfolk police made inquiries with Norwich's Polish community to try to track her down and checked on addresses in both this country and in Poland.

Detectives also issued a photograph of the little girl in a bid to convince the missing mother to return, but to no avail.

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Constabulary said: 'Police are still continuing with their inquiries. Their inquiries to date have been extensive.

'Officers will be refreshing what has already been carried out and they are still actively looking for the woman. They have liaised with Interpol, other police forces across the country and the missing persons' helpline.

'Norfolk Constabulary have checked addresses in the UK and in Poland. In the latter the addresses proved negative.'

The little girl, who is in good health, was put into temporary care by Norfolk County Council's children's services and has remained in their charge ever since.

If her mother does not return it is likely that, eventually, the little girl will be put up for adoption.

Agnieszka is white, with a round face and short dark hair, and has a good grasp of the English language.

She had arrived in the UK from Poland just the week before she vanished and it is believed she had connections with friends in the Lakenham and Tuckswood area of Norwich.

Anyone with any information about her should call Det Insp Matt Sharman on 0845 4564567.
