Norfolk looks set to see more icy conditions as the Met Office issued another weather warning for the county.

The yellow warning is in place from 4pm today until 11am tomorrow for most of the country, including Norfolk and parts of Suffolk.

The warning states: “Ice will again form on some surfaces from late Wednesday afternoon, which will continue through the night and well into Thursday morning.

“In addition, wintry showers will spread from the west with some accumulations of snow, though mostly restricted to high ground. There will probably be icy stretches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths with some slippery surfaces likely.”

Dan Holley, of Norwich-based Weatherquest tweeted there could also be a chance of wintry showers in the eastern region.

He said: “A band of squally rain will sweep E’wards across the region during the second half of this evening, heavy bursts turning to sleet/snow/hail at times perhaps giving a local cm or two, especially on hills. Local gusts to 40-50mph possible. Ice risk then as skies clear.”

On Tuesday morning emergency services dealt with nearly 50 crashes on the county’s roads after temperatures plummeted to -3C.
