After the death of his grandfather, a Norwich teenager decided to raise money for a charity in his honour.

Scott Greengrass, 17, wanted to pay tribute to grandfather Dercyk Greengrass by walking five kilometres in aid of Age UK Norwich.

He had initially hoped to raise £200 but he doubled it raising nearly £400.

His mother Paula Greengrass said: 'Scott has never done anything like this before, and wants to continue to do charity work.'

Scott, who has autism, has said that he wants to continue to fundraise for the charity, adding that he may even like to work for Age UK in the future.

He took on the challenge following a conversation with his hairdresser Rebecca Littleboy, who does charity work.

Phil Wells, chief executive of Age UK Norwich said: 'We'd like to say a massive congratulations and thank you to Scott for his marvellous fundraising efforts. We are a local independent charity and we rely on people like Scott to enable us to continue developing and offering services which ensure older people can maintain their independence, fight loneliness and enjoy later life.'

The 5,000 metre walk along the Marriots Way on Sunday, April 12 took an hour and a half but Scott enjoyed himself so much he even clocked a few more metres, walking almost five-and-a-half kilometres.
