Localised flooding possible in Norfolk on Sunday and Monday
The Met Office is warning of the potential of localised flooding in Norfolk with heavy rain expected on Sunday and Monday .
The severe weather warning for the east and south-east of England was issued yesterday.
The Met Office is warning on Sunday that outbreaks of heavy, thundery rain are likely particularly overnight and during the early part of the day and the public should be aware that local flooding is possible.
A similar scenario is expected on Monday with outbreaks of heavy, thundery rain again likely, particularly during the afternoon and into the night with localised flooding again possible.
A Norfolk police spokesman said that they had received an extra rainfall alert at about 4pm yesterday, warning that there was a 20pc chance of up to 60mm of rain falling in Suffolk, Essex and Hertfordshire last night.
However, fears that up to 60mm of rain could fall in Norfolk yesterday were unrealised, and emergency services said the heavy rain that did fall did not cause any major problems on the roads or lead to any localised flooding.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the heavy rain had not caused any major incidents on the roads, and a spokesman for the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said it, too, had not received any call-outs because of the downpour.
