Three accidental breaches in confidentiality were recorded in the treasury department last year, according to a city MP.

David Davis, Haltemprice and Howden Conservative, asked how many cases of data loss and breaches had occurred in the department during 2011.

Norwich North MP Chloe Smith, economic secretary to the treasury, told parliament there was no record of any data loss, but she added there had been three accidental breaches in confidentiality from 'low risk emails inadvertently being sent to 'no need to know' addressees'.

She said: 'On each of these occasions, immediate action was undertaken to satisfactorily rectify the situation.'
