Disabled drivers are to get free additional parking time in Norwich's off-street car parks following a decision by the city council's cabinet.
The Equality Act, introduced in October, means the council must now consider how a disabled person might be disadvantaged by the provision of a service in relation to a person without disabilitiies.
Since it would take a disabled person longer to park and access the city centre, the council has a duty to make reasonable adjustments to the amount of parking time needed by that person.
From March 28, blue-badge holders will get additional time free when they pay for parking.
If they pay for one, two or three hours' parking, they will get the same number of additional hours free. If they pay for four hours, they will be able to park free all day.
