The Sprowston branch of the Royal British Legion has announced that it managed to raise more than 13,000 with its 2009 collection.
With the help of stands at Homebase, Norwich, and Tesco in Blue Boar Lane, its appeal raised a total of 13,254 - a 49pc increase on the money taken in 2008.
The branch is now appealing for volunteers to come forward who would be willing to give up a few hours later this year.
The 2010 collection will run from Saturday, October 30 to Monday, November 15. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Valerie Hill on 01603 485232.
