People from Norwich are being urged to ditch their allegiance to the three lions and two left feet of England and embrace the samba style of Brazil strictly for one night only as part of an evening of dancing.

Brazilian fans are famed for their dazzling dancing feet and now football fans from the city are being given the chance to emulate their South American rivals.

An evening of Brazilian football, food, and music will be held at the Norwich Arts Centre from 4pm tomorrowbefore Brazil take on the Ivory Coast in the Group G clash in Johannesburg's Soccer City at 7.30pm.

The band Rabo De Foguete will provide the traditional samba-style inspired music for the night with an extended set of traditional and popular Brazilian music, from Jorge Ben to Lenine with a bit of Pagode on the side.

The event, which is being run in partnership with Norwich and Norfolk Community Arts (NORCA) and Chilli con Salsa, will also feature traditional food.

Marcus Patteson, director of NORCA said: 'There's no competition with England so it's a chance to come and see Brazil. Hopefully there will be some good football played, a really chilled atmosphere, some good food, music and a chance for a drink, a chat and a chance to enjoy some football in a big group of people who are really up for it.'

Mr Patteson said as well as the food and football, people could also enjoy some samba-style dancing before the game kicked off.

He said: 'There will be the music session there will be a chance for people to have a nice chilled summer afternoon and an opportunity to dance a bit and raise the energy a bit for the game.'

He said if the event proved successful there could be similar evenings put on at the centre as the tournament progressed to its later stages.

Tickets for the show are 4 or 2 for children. To book tickets call the Norwich Arts Centre Box Office on 01603 660352, book online at www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk or call in to NAC, UEA or Soundclash. For all event listings, please visit www.norwichartscentre.co.uk
