Two men in their 70s have now died following the crash, which happened at Keswick on January 25.

The first man, who had been the front seat passenger in a red Nissan Note, died at Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, on February 24.

The second man, a backseat passenger in the same car, was seriously injured and died on Tuesday (May 22).

The driver of the Nissan, which collided with a black Ford Focus at the B1113 and Low Road junction, survived with back and seatbelt injuries.

Garry Wheatley, South Norfolk councillor for Cringleford who represents the area, said: 'I don't think it's any secret something needs to be done about that junction.'

He said the junction was 'contentious' as various planning applications in the surrounding area had made promises to improve the roads.

But Mr Wheatley said it needed to be made safer regardless of any developments.

Christopher Kemp, also on South Norfolk Council, said his thoughts were with the families affected.

He said: 'It's dreadful for the families, they have our sympathies, and if there are any lessons to be learned they have to be learned by the appropriate authorities.'

He said it was important to identify whether the crash was down to driver error, or whether it was due to the road or signage design.

Improvements are due to be made to roads in the area as a condition of the outline approval of plans to build an industrial estate between the A140 near Harford Bridge Tesco and the B1113.

Earlier this month the bid was approved by a narrow margin but with 33 conditions, including building a 'traffic management system' on Low Road.

Objections were raised over concern the development would lead to additional traffic and would create and that 'rat-running' on Low Road.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, which happened around 12.30pm, or may have dashcam footage of the incident.

Anyone with information should contact 101.
