Investigations are continuing today after the body of a man, believed to be a rough sleeper, was found at an underpass in Norwich.

Officers were called just before 7am yesterday to reports of a man found collapsed in the St Stephen's Street underpass.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the man died.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained, however it is not thought to be suspicious.

Four police cars, one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle were on the scene at 8am, and the underpass was shut throughout the morning.

Locals had described seeing a man in a blue sleeping bag, who appeared to have been living in the underpass in the last fortnight.

One person who works nearby said the man was in his 30s and had been sleeping rough in the underpass.

A post mortem examination will take place in due course.
