Tim Williams, Norwich Evening News managing editor, said: “The Community Cash initiative is brilliant news for people in Norwich.
“Once again, thanks to the support of Comic Relief, more than 50 groups and organisations will benefit from grants of up to £1,000 and I am sure it will make a difference to people throughout our community.
“Every day we are working at the heart of Norwich life and our team is always meeting community groups for whom a cash injection like this would be a great help.”
Mr Williams will be part of the panel – along with the Community Foundation and Comic Relief, which decides who should receive grants, and he encouraged as many people as possible to apply as quickly as possible.
“Every day, the pages of our newspaper carry articles about groups which improve people’s lives and strengthen community spirit, and now they can get some extra support they need.
“Last year, more than 50 organisations were given funds to continue doing their great work. We are delighted we can once again help here in Norwich.”
