Some of the country's best-loved aircraft have taken to the skies of Norfolk as part of a popular county air show.

Enthusiasts packed into Old Buckenham Airfield to see a series of stunning aerial displays, including an RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The special flypast of Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane whisked overhead in the beaming sunshine in honour of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

The event on Sunday attracted hundreds of people, although organisers said the attendance had been hit by the England v Germany World Cup game.

During the day, the historic airfield, which was once home to the US Army Air Force

453rd Bomb Group, also welcomed back the North American P51D Mustang which protected the B24 bombers as they flew from the base to their enemy targets in the second world war.

Three Boeing Stearmans - the 1940's biplane aircraft which most American and British pilots learned to fly in - also took to the skies, alongside modern aerobatic aircraft and the Fournier RF4D motor-gliders duo display.

On the ground, crowds were treated to exhibitions of classic military vehicles and numerous trade stands.
