Loving tributes have been paid to a popular Hethersett woman who died of a heart attack last week.

The family of Roz Killington said they have been left shocked by the sudden loss of their cheerful wife, mother and sister who collapsed last Monday.

The 54-year-old was a familiar face to generations of children in the village, having worked for almost 22 years as a cleaner and catering assistant at Hethersett Old Hall School, where a special bench is to be placed in her memory.

She was also the caretaker and booking officer at Hethersett Village Hall for 15 years and was well-known for getting around on her bicycle.

Her husband Philip, 56, said: 'Everyone knew Roz. I can't think of anyone who would have a bad word to say about her. She will be greatly missed.'

Roz, whose maiden name was Baker, was born in Alysham and grew-up with three sisters and three brothers. Her father Bertie died two years ago, while her mother, Elsie, now lives in Dereham.

The family moved to Old Catton when she was a young child and she attended Sprowston Secondary Modern School. Following school, she worked at Bugdens convenience store in Wroxham Road, Norwich.

She married Philip in 1977 and they would later have two children; Darren, 30, and Rachel, 28. The couple first lived in Banford Road, Norwich, but moved to Rushall near Diss, Reedham and Hertfordshire, before the family settled in Hethersett in 1989.

Roz's biggest passion was going to concerts to watch artists such as Westlife, Boyzone and George Michael. This summer she travelled to Wembley Stadium to see Take That.

Michael Reeves, facilities manager at Hethersett Old Hall School, said: 'It did not matter who you were, Roz always had a nice word to say and time for a chat. She went beyond the call of duty both professionally and socially and for that we are very grateful.'

Fred Watkins, secretary of Hethersett Village Hall, added: 'If we had people saying they would like to book the hall for a wedding reception Roz would show them around and with her friendly and helpful attitude people really felt welcome, like they were coming to a nice place.'

Her funeral service will take place at St Remigius Church, Hethersett, on Monday at 1.30pm. Those attending are asked to wear something pink in tribute as it was Roz's favourite colour.
