The start of the Formula 1 season was celebrated in style at a giant Scalextric fundraising event for children's charity Nelson's Journey.
The event, organised by local law firm Steeles Law, raised 1000 for the children's bereavement charity's Smile Campaign, which will go towards the 350,000 needed to buy a new building and extend their range of services.
The Scalextric evening was held at the Hethel Engineering Centre and attracted 80 leading business people from across the region. A giant eight-lane Scalextric track saw 15 teams compete under current or former F1 team names to win coveted team winner, fastest lap and individual winner trophies.
The night was topped off with a charity auction in aid of Nelson's Journey, where guests bid for items donated by local businesses including a Virgin Experience, a Winsor Bishop gift voucher and a Scalextric F1 Starter Set, as well as gifts ideal for motorsport buffs such as a Lewis Hamilton signed photo and a Jaguar Hotwheels 10 inch model of the old Mark Webber R4 F1 car.
