Outbreaks of sleet and snow could fall over Norfolk and Suffolk

Much of the region woke up the frosty roads on Saturday, with many needing to de-ice their cars as chilly temperatures persisted throughout the day.

But it is set to get colder still, with temperatures dropping to -2C overnight on Saturday and Sunday and they are only forecast to rise to 2C during Sunday.

A yellow weather warning for snow from the Met Office remains in place for West Norfolk, Mid Norfolk, parts of the North Norfolk coast and Norwich between 4am and 11.55pm on Sunday.

However its detailed forecasts show there is only a 10pc to 20pc chance of anything falling in the early hours.

That sharply rises to 90pc by 8am, but forecasts show that is expected to be heavy rain.

There is an 80pc chance of a sleet shower between 11am and 1pm, with drizzle and rain again forecast for the afternoon.

Weatherquest meteorologist Dan Holley said on Twitter: 'Outbreaks of sleet and snow will affect many parts of the region on Sunday morning.

'There is still some uncertainty as to the exact track and timing of the associated area of low pressure.

'This will dictate exactly where and how much snow will fall.

'Snow may initially turn back to rain as slightly less cold air arrives.

'Some areas may experience rain throughout, especially close to the coast.'
