The festive spirit has arrived at a Norwich home as a woman who suffers from a debilitating disease helps spread Christmas joy to all who walk past her house.

Sandra Gotts and her team of little helpers spent more than two months putting up the Christmas lights which now cover her Thorpe Marriott home top to toe.

The married mum of four, who has multiple sclerosis, first started to put up lights when her dad died eight years ago.

The display started with a simple tree in front of her house but has now grown to hundreds of twinkling lights.

Mrs Gotts, 50, of Forgate Close, said: 'My dad used to love Christmas and would always spend it with us.

'My sons were six at the time and they loved their granddad. They wanted to light up a tree in the garden for their granddad to see from heaven.

'It's just grown and grown. We've got more lights now than ever and we will have even more next year.'

The lights are on the front of the house, on the side wall and the whole front garden is filled with festive decorations.

Mrs Gotts' husband Colin, son Shaun and son-in-law David started to put up the lights in September and finished just before thee family's grand switch-on on Monday night. Friends and family from the community gathered outside Mrs Gotts' house to see the home transform into a winter wonderland.

Mrs Gotts, who has sons Shaun, Ashley and Curtis and a daughter Kirsty, said: 'It's always lovely for all the children in the neighbourhood.

'The number of people who have stopped and taken photos in the last few hours has been unbelievable.

'It's a pleasure to see and put a smile on their faces.'

A traditional Christmas fair will be held at the Hinks Meadow community centre in Kingswood Avenue, Thorpe Marriott, on Saturday, December 10 from 10.30am to 4pm.

The event will see Father Christmas in his grotto, Mrs Christmas and her helpers serving hot drinks and festive food and a range of stalls selling gifts, cards and crafts.
