Campaigners fighting to turn a former day centre for elderly people into a community centre staged a protest outside City Hall.
Norfolk County Council is looking to sell the Silver Rooms in Norwich following a major shake-up in the way social care is provided.
The county council wants to put it up for auction, saying it is in the taxpayers’ interest to sell it on the open market.
But campaign group the Friends of the Silver Rooms wants to buy the building and use it as a community centre and got the city council to list it as an asset of community value, delaying the auction and giving the campaigners more time to raise money to buy it.
However, the county council has appealed that decision and both sides will have to present their case to the city council tomorrow.
Yesterday, campaigners gathered outside City Hall to argue for it to remain a community asset, pictured.
