For two years 12-year-old Maisie Lossau has been battling a brain tumour.
While it has confined her to a wheelchair and put her through brutal rounds of radiotherapy and surgery, the war looks like being won.
Recent MRI scans showed the tumour had receded and is now holding steady, allowing Maisie to return to school at Hewett Academy.
With cautious optimism, the Spixworth girl's family are now turning their attention to rehab, but they need to raise £25,000 for a new chair to help her regain her movement - which has been almost entirely lost.
Maisie's mum, Dawn, said: 'Following the good MRI results we are hoping to concentrate on some rehabilitation for Maisie, especially based around the top half of her body. A referral has now been sent to the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre at Tadworth in Surrey where we hope that they will consider whether they can help her rebuild her body.'
Maisie now does physiotherapy every day having spent nine months at Addenbrooke's in 2016 undergoing surgery to remove 80pc of the tumour. She was left unable to walk and became totally dependent.
'Everything life has thrown at this girl she has taken, digested, coped with unbelievably well and above all else, she has smiled,' added Mrs Lossau.
'We launched Maisie's Wheels as our mission for 2018 in the hope that we could get her an all singing all dancing wheelchair.'
It will allow Maisie to stand from a seated or prostrate position, but comes with a £25,000 price tag.
'This was exactly what we wanted for Maisie, something which will give her more freedom, independence and help us to get out and about much more for longer periods of time as changing position relieves some of her discomfort,' said Mrs Lossau.
'Seeing Maisie's face when she saw what she would be able to do in this chair meant whatever happened and however we can get it, she has to have this wheelchair.
'She is truly an absolute inspiration to us all and we could not be any more proud of her than we are.'
Charities are being contacted for assistance but fundraising has also begun. A Team Awesome Ball is taking place at Sprowston Manor on May 12, 2018 with all proceeds going towards Maisie's Wheels.
