Time is ticking for you to get your hands on a share of £50,000.
Hundreds of local people are getting ready to take part in this year’s Sport Relief, which takes place from Friday March 23 to Sunday March 25.
But the deadline for community groups, sports clubs and charities to apply for a Sport Relief Community Cash grant is Friday March 9.
More than 50 organisations will benefit from grants of up to £1,000 – but there’s still time to get your application in.
The money, provided by Sport Relief in partnership with the Norfolk Community Foundation and the Evening News, is for projects which benefit the community in Norwich.
Any constituted voluntary and community group within the Norwich City Council area is invited to apply – and you don’t have to be sporty.
Community Cash has already made a difference for more than 100 groups in the city, providing a welcome boost to causes as diverse as a carnival arts workshop and a project for young carers.
The money could be used to buy new equipment for your group, pay for the hire of a new staff member, allow you to welcome new members, or simply pay your running costs.
Many groups have already completed the short application form and staked their claim for funding this year.
The grants are available to social enterprises, voluntary groups and registered charities that make a positive difference to the lives of people or communities who experience disadvantage or exclusion of any kind.
That may include poor access to facilities and services, or disadvantage because of health, age, mental or physical disability, unemployment or low income, or isolation.
In the past two years, the Evening News has helped to distribute more than £110,000 in grants of between £500 and £1,000.
