The Great Yarmouth and Gorleston lifeboat carried out a medical evacuation 21 nautical miles offshore this morning.
The relief all-weather lifeboat, Dora Foster McDougall, was launched just after 10am to carry out the evacuation off the ASV Pioneer.
The lifeboat was sent by HM Coastguard to the Pioneer’s position north east of Yarmouth.
Once on scene the lifeboat crew carried out a medical assessment of the casualty who had suffered a seizure, and due to the nature of the incident it was decided to evacuate the man so he could get medical care urgently, and he was stretchered onto the lifeboat.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said: “The evacuation went smoothly with no complications, the crew worked well with the crew on board the ASV Pioneer enabling us to get the casualty off for immediate medical care.”
The lifeboat was met at its Gorleston riverside station by an ambulance which transported the patient to the James Paget Hospital.
