Mix new fashion trends with vintage and you get a seriously stylish look fit for the shows and events in Norwich Lanes during Norwich Fashion Week, says Emma Harrowing

When Internet make-up artist phenomenon Pixiwoo announced that they would support the Norwich Lanes Fashion Weekender at Norwich Fashion Week next month, there was no doubt that this event would ooze serious amounts of glamour.

And if The Lanes fashion promotional shoot for fashion week is anything it go by, this glamour looks set to have a 90s edge.

Think the dark kohl eyes and 'just-got-out-of-bed' hair of Kate Moss circa 1993.

Style from the 90s is a big look for 2013. This revival is only just trickly into retro shops in Norwich, but in the new collections in independent and high street stores it's all about grunge, Brit Pop and Acid House.

At Norwich Fashion Week the shops and businesses aim to bring you the latest styles on and off the catwalk. On Friday March 8 the Norwich Lanes Fashion Show takes place at Norwich Arts Centre with sets from The Lanes motley crew. Catfish, Flint, Prim, Philip Browne, Goldfinches, Dogfish/Seven Wolves, The Egg, Elements, Drug Store and Love Couture will take to the catwalk alongside original fashion design made in Norwich from fashion degree students at Norwich University College of the Arts. It's set to show you just how much independent fashion there is in Norwich.

And it doesn't stop with the fashion show. On Saturday March 9 prepare yourself for the shopping, style and entertainment frenzy that is the Norwich Lanes Fashion Night Out. This is the second time the shops and businesses have got together in Norwich Lanes to bring a late night shopping and entertainment event to Norwich Fashion Week.

Expect the unexpected. Last year fashion boutiques contained pop up hair salons, DJs and cocktails, there was live tattooing in shop windows, street art and a few fashion launches to boot.

This year events such as the Rocks on the Runway fashion show at Fourth Avenue, vintage styling sessions at Prim Vintage, a swishing clothes swapping party at the Ground Coffee shop, mini manicures and pedicures at Imelda's, a blow dry bar at The Egg and a fashion show at Pure, will keep fashion and shopping lovers entertained well into the night. You can then relax at the after party in the Birdcage.

The Norwich Lanes Fashion Weekender sponsored by Pixiwoo and TWO magazine and supported by Naked Wines and Signs Express starts with the Norwich Lanes Fashion Show at Norwich Arts Centre on Friday March 8 from 7.30pm until 1am. Tickets cost £15 (£12 concessions) and are available from Norwich Arts Centre 01603 660352.

The Norwich Lanes Fashion Night Out takes place throughout Norwich Lanes on Saturday March 9 from 6pm.
