A 15-year-old girl has been banned from a Great Yarmouth store for 12 months for shoplifting.

Restorative justice (RJ) was used to resolve the incident at Boots on the Gapton Hall retail park. A meeting took place between the girl, her mother, the store manager and local police community support officers (PCSOs) Gemma George and Martin Chapman.

The girl was seen entering the store, remove security labels from items and leave without attempting to pay. She was stopped outside and items worth £24 were recovered.

RJ is an alternative to criminal prosecution which brings together offenders of low level crime and their victims to resolve the matter.

The girl apologised to the manager and was issued with a 12-month banning order from the store.

It was also agreed she would carry out unpaid work at the store for six hours which she has since completed.
