The generous gift of an mouldable bean bag has put a smile on the face of a young boy with severe cerebral palsy.

Three-year-old Toby Fletcher, who is deaf and unable to communicate, was often in tears because he found it so hard to find a comfortable position sitting or lying on the floor.

The toddler was able to use a P Pod, which is similar to a bean bag but can be moulded to suit the sitter's position, at school in King's Lynn, but his family were struggling to buy one for their home in Foulden.

However, the charity Home Start Swaffham put them in touch with the Swaffham and District Lions, who donated 440 to buy the vital piece of equipment.

Toby and his mother Sarah were presented with the P Pod at a handover at the Swaffham community centre on Wednesday September 12.

Mrs Fletcher said: 'He is happier in it because if he is uncomfortable he is crying but the first day we put him in he was just laughing. It was so nice to see him laughing because he has such a hard time and gets uncomfortable. Just to see him smile is lovely. We are just so grateful.'

She said Toby, who is the middle of six siblings, had tried other equipment but nothing else had worked, and the P Pod was light enough to take to out of the house so Toby could be comfortable when visiting other places.
