Norfolk’s child bereavement charity, Nelson’s journey, has launched a fundraising bid to allow them record the journeys of the children they help.
The charity has launched a crowdfunding project to raise £5,000 in 30 days, enabling the bereaved children and young people they work with to better communicate the challenges they have faced following the death of their special person and document the journeys they have been on with the service.
And Norwich-based business Eye Film and TV are working in partnership on the project which will enable Nelson’s Journey to purchase camera equipment, editing software and receive training in how to film effective videos.
A selection of young people will be given the opportunity to take part in the training and use the equipment to capture their stories.
Sophie Berry, funding and marketing manager said: “Death is not something many people find easy to discuss. Breaking down barriers for the children we work with has always been one of our priorities.
“Having the means to capture and share their stories and experiences will be invaluable to us communicating the coping capacity of children and young people and also educate the Norfolk community in how they can support bereaved children they may know.”
One of the first donations to the crowdfunding page was for £1,000 from East of England Co-op.
Andrew Dawes, head of specialist retail said: “We’re great supporters of Nelson’s Journey and the fantastic work they do to support young people through bereavement.
“They continuously create new and inventive ways to allow the children to talk about their feelings and share their happy memories. We’re pleased that we’re able to support them in this new venture and encourage others to do the same.”
