Wroxham and Hoveton Lions Club have been thanked for their generosity after presenting £5,000 of donations to two charities at their recent 35th anniversary charter luncheon.

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help Norfolk and When You Wish Upon A Star - a Lincolnshire charity who provide once-in-a-lifetime wishes to seriously and terminally ill children - were both presented with £2,500 cheques.

The two charities are the pick of current president of the Hoveton and Wroxham Lions, Terry Vout, himself a former RAF electrician, raised through its tombola shop in Wroxham precinct last year.

Royal Navy lieutenant commander Stuart R. Fidler, who is the chairman of SSAFA Norfolk, said: “I would like to thank the Wroxham and Hoveton Lions Club, and all the members of the public who have so generously donated to their fund raising events during 2010.”
