Steam fans disappointed at not getting a look at the Flying Scotsman following last month’s cancelled trip to Norwich will get another chance to view the iconic engine.
Following repairs to the world’s most famous steam engine, Flying Scotsman is now back in working order and due to run a rescheduled timetable in East Anglia this weekend.
Steam fans are still in with a chance of travelling with this famous locomotive when it stops at Norwich on Saturday, November 11, to take locals on a morning tour of East Anglia.
There are also a limited number of one way trip tickets to Ely from Norwich, with Flying Scotsman, departing in the afternoon.
On Saturday morning the engine will depart Norwich at approximately 8am and steam down the Great Eastern Main Line to the new Bacon Factory curve where the train takes passengers through Westerfield, before reversing back into Ipswich.
The locomotive will then set off again on a return fast run back to Norwich, retracing the outward route.
In the afternoon, passengers can join a trip to London with the engine, which will depart from Norwich at approximately 2pm.
Flying Scotsman will take passengers on a fast run south through Ely and Cambridge before picking up the East Coast route to London. Passengers will have over an hour to explore, before heading back to Kings Cross Station for the journey home by vintage diesel.
Marcus Robertson, chairman of Steam Dreams, said: “This will be our first visit to East Anglia with Flying Scotsman, which promises to be a fantastic experience for those on board.
“The trip was rearranged to Saturday 11 November thanks to the efforts of our train operator, West Coast Railways, along with Network Rail and Riley & Sons Engineering, and presents a special opportunity to travel with this famous locomotive.”
The Flying Scotsman was due to arrive in Norwich on October 18 but never made it after breaking down in Peterborough.
Tickets for this weekend’s trips are available in three different classes, ranging from £75 per person in First Class, up to Pullman Style Dining at £215 per person.
