Five motorbikes worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from a building after they were advertised for sale on the internet.

The motorcycles, worth more than 2,000 in total, were stolen from a large outbuilding in Hockering Lane, Bawburgh, just west of Norwich, at some time between 11pm on Tuesday, April 6 and 7am the following day.

The owner had received an anonymous call earlier in the evening from a man claiming to be from the Yarmouth area, who expressed an interest in them.

A yellow van was also seen acting suspiciously in the area before the thefts.

The bikes stolen were a red and white Honda QR50, a Kawasaki green X Part 110cc, a white coloured MT5, a blue 110cc pit bike with copy Honda engine, and a yellow Suzuki RM125 cc.

Officers from Bowthorpe and Costessey Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) are looking for witnesses to a burglary.

Two of the bikes are said to be rare, making them distinctive on tracks or to any potential buyers.

PC Andy Tomlinson, of Bowthorpe and Costessey SNT, would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the theft, the person who made the call or anyone who has any further information concerning the van or any of the stolen bikes.

He can be contacted on 0845 456 4567. Anyone with relevant information could also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
