Police found Lithuanian Jolanta Dumciuviene's body at her home in Wisbech on Friday evening after concerns were raised about her whereabouts.
The property in Milner Road was cordoned off yesterday, as forensic officers continued their investigation.
A post mortem carried out on Saturday, by home office pathologist Dr Ben Swift, confirmed that the woman was murdered.
Police said she died as a result of injuries she sustained in an assault, without giving any more detail about her injuries.
Neighbours said there had been a large, noisy gathering at the semi-detached property on Tuesday.Last night it was not yet known whether officers were connecting Ms Dumciuviene's death with the event.
Family members in Lithuania have been informed of her death, but formal identification is unlikely to take place for some weeks.
Detectives are still appealing to anyone who knew the victim or anyone who knew of her whereabouts between Monday and Friday.
Det Insp Martin Brunning, who is leading the investigation, said officers were not 100pc sure that the body was that of Ms Dumciuviene, but her name and the pohotograph had been released in the hope people would come forward with information.
“It's vital that if someone knows Jolanta, had recent contact with her or knows anything that might help us with our investigations to get in touch immediately,” he said.
Anyone with information should call 0345 456 4564.
