Emergency services were called amid fears that people were trapped in a car which had gone into a ditch.
Fire crews from Sprowston, Earlham and Carrow, as well as a rescue boat, were sent to Drayton Lane, in Horsford, at just before 10.45pm on Monday night.
A car had been spotted in a ditch and there were fears that people were trapped inside.
However, when the firefighters arrived at the scene, they established that nobody was in the vehicle.
They made the scene safe.
