Carve Her Name with Pride, starring the much-loved Virginia McKenna, opens the Regal Experience's autumn programme of classic movies at the Wymondham Ex-Services' Club (Regal Cinema).
The profoundly moving and dramatic film, made in 1958 and directed by the legendary Lewis Gilbert, tells the true story of Violette Szabo, a Second World War secret agent who is played by Ms McKenna.
Szabo is parachuted into occupied France to work with the French Resistance against the Nazis. Paul Scofield takes the role of Captain Tony Fraser, whom she teams up with in the Resistance and whom she had met earlier. Ms McKenna won a BAFTA Best Actress Award for her portrayal of the heroine.
Supporting will be It's All Over Town, a nostalgic look at the pop scene in the early 1960s. Among stars appearing are Frankie Vaughan, The Springfields, The Hollies, The Bachelors and Mr. Acker Bilk.
Tickets for the showing on Sunday, September 3 at 2.30pm are available from Michael Armstrong on 01953 603246 or at Simply Cards, Market Street, Wymondham. They are priced £5 with £4 for concessions.
