She lived for just two precious years but little Maddison Turner brought so much joy to her family's lives.

Today, on what would have been her third birthday, Maddison’s parents Graham Turner and Kelly Sadler pay tribute to their youngest daughter who they said had a special sparkle in her eyes and was always smiling despite fighting cancer.

Mr Turner, 35, who is originally from Costessey, said: “Everyone loved Maddison...she would just make you laugh. She was always happy.”

Meanwhile Maddison’s sister Chloeanne, five, said: “MaddieMoo was the best little sister in the world.”

The family had their world turned upside down in September 2014 when Maddison developed a swollen stomach that, after initially being diagnosed as constipation, was found to be a stage four Wilms’ tumour in her kidney that had spread to her lungs.

Maddison endured gruelling treatment for about a year, including having one of her kidneys removed, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and an operation on her lungs, but Miss Sadler, 31, said nothing fazed her brave daughter.

She said: “She was smiley throughout...you would never have known she was going through the treatment she was going through.”

In August last year the family, who live in Ladbrooke Close, Diss, were given the awful news Maddison had just weeks to live and Maddison died peacefully at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in Quidenham on September 11.

Just a week and a half before, the family enjoyed a precious day together when Miss Sadler, Maddison and Chloeanne cheered on Mr Turner as he took part in the Run Norwich 10k to raise money for cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

On August 7 this year Mr Turner plans to take part in the 2016 Run Norwich in Maddison’s memory and he is to be joined by friends and family members keen to help raise funds and awareness for CLIC Sargent.

But before this the family plan to mark Maddison’s birthday today in a special way. Chloeanne has bought a special card for her sister who she said was turning three “up in the stars” and the family are planning to spend the day together in Great Yarmouth.

Miss Sadler said: “We are going to Great Yarmouth because Maddison loved going on the snail ride there. We are going to do what she loved.”
