Emergency services were called to two separate incidents which unfolded at the same time in Norwich.
Norfolk police responded to an assault in William Kett Close just after 9pm while the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service attended a building fire in the same street at around the same time.
A police spokesperson said the two incidents were not related.
'It was a low level assault. Police received a call at 9.10pm and a man was arrested in relation to an assault.
'Enquiries are ongoing and the person is in custody.
'It is not linked to the fire which happened nearby.'
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said three appliances from Sprowston, Earlham and Carrow had attended the building fire in William Kett Close, which is off Gas Hill.
The crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
An officer on the scene said some bath towels had caught alight after a cigarette was accidentally dropped on them.
He said: 'There was some minimal damage to a wall. No one was injured and the fire was extinguished.'
